Pitti Uomo Street Style

Well it happened, one of the most important international events for menswear and men accessories collections, Pitti Uomo. Well-dressed men flooded the streets of Florence and wore the latest looks that were so cool it made us want to shop for our latest pant suit; we difinitely have the shoes for it. So we scoured photos all over the internet to see the Pitti Uomo Street Style. Men wore suits like they were shorts on a beach. They looked so cool and comfortable. They walked with such confidence and we have to say they looked gorgeous!

The looks ranged from classic suits and colorful suits with beautiful bespoke shoes to suits with sneakers. Of course one of our favorite looks that we spotted were a few women wearing men’s style suits with bespoke shoes. Of course Lareymondie approves of this Pitti Uomo Street Style. A few women walked through a sea of men in suits strutting their stuff with beautiful men’s style shoes, sneakers and guess what? They looked fabulous!

Lareymondie is a big fan of anyone that can take a beautiful bespoke shoe and rock a colorful pant, a plaid suit, jeans, and more. The Pitti Uomo Street Style this year were so special and unique, not only did these men look great but they inspired us to try something new. And of course, kudos to the women that stood on their own! They are our kind of Lareymondie Girl.

The Men’s Luxury Shoe Collection

The House of Lareymondie introduces the Men’s Luxury Shoe Collection. Orginally a design house for women, creator Maylis’ phone would not stop ringing and everywhere she went men would ask her if she would design her bespoke loafers and boots for men. She wanted to concentrate on her Women’s Collection and felt if she was going to introduce the Men’s Luxury Shoe Collection it had to be different from the Women’s Collection. So she decided to create a completely new line that is not only bespoke for men but also for women.

The Men’s Luxury Shoe Collection is part of the new luxury line and it is still part of Maylis’ vision; customized and made by the best artisans in France. Lareymondie for Men (and women) developed and branded in partnership with top-tier design house Joseph Malinge, keeps up just the right way. This rich collection brings elegance, customization and couture, all matched to unique needs and tastes. Just what the modern man deserves. Men will be able to go to the Lareymondie website or the new pop-up store at Atelier Courbet in New York City and pick the style, color, leather, patina, and best of all personalize their new luxury shoe with an initial, name, or symbol. The new collection is small but it has very special pieces that can be worn with suits and jeans alike.

His & Hers Shoe Collection

The House of Lareymondie does it again! It’s has added a new luxury line for men and women. Creator Maylis deLacoste Lareymondie orignally created a line of bespoke loafers and boots for women. They are all made in France by the best artisans and quickly gained popularity, but then she began to get messages from men asking when will she have a men’s line. Orignally a house just for women’s shoes, Maylis wanted to focus on women and empower them by designing the best boots, loafers, and beautiful bespoke shoes. But the requests kept coming in. She decided that if she was going to create a men’s line, it would have to be just as special as the women’s collection. So she opted for something unique, a His and Hers Shoe Collection.

It’s a collections that is both masculine and feminine. A collection that anyone can wear and still be cool and sexy. The His and Hers Shoe Collection are custom-made like the Couture and Luxury Collections which is how Maylis sets herself apart from the others. She figured if she was going to create a Men’s Line, women needed them too. After all the company is about women in power. The shoes are handcrafted in France and every shoe is personalized by the customer. The His and Hers Shoe Collection are no exception. A couple would buy the same shoes and they will each have an exceptional piece and best of all they can personalized them by adding their initials, name, or quote. It’s a unique way for a couple to have their own little secret in their fashion wardrobe.

But don’t fret, no couple necessary to buy these great styles. For women that love the tomboy look, this new collection is your go to. The collection ranges from a beautiful ombre shoe to a textured bootie that can be worn with a slouchy pant, suit pant, or jeans. It’s a shoe that women can style differently and still have a quality piece. This new bespoke collection is what Maylis feels sets her company apart. It’s that flashback that she had when working on Wall Street; the men getting their shoes polished while reading their Wall Street Journal as a sign of power. Well guess what ladies? It’s your turn. This new His & Hers Shoe Collection is just as powerful, best of all very stylish.

Fashion Designer Paul Carroll

Fashion Designer Paul Carroll is one to watch! He recently had his third runway show during New York Fashion Week and his Spring/Summer 15 Collection was magical. His collection was made with delicate details and it shined brightly as the models walked down the runway. Paul Carroll a Boston Native moved to New York to become a fashion designer. In 1999 he introduced his first ready-to-wear collection. He collections features cocktail and evening dresses in addition to beautifully tailored suits.

Paul Carroll loves to create clothing that women can wear, he dedicates himself to his craft by creating recognizable style and by using the best fabrics. When I asked Paul how he wants women to feel when they wear his clothes, he said “I want a woman to feel like a heroine in her own movie in my dress. ” I had a chance to see his Fall 2014 collection as well as his Spring 2015 and each of his pieces were made with intricate details and mostly by hand. I also tried on a few of the dresses from his collection and they were both modern and chic. His dresses had beautiful textures and felt perfect on my body. I loved his dresses so much I wanted to take most of them home with me. Though they were seasonal pieces they were dresses I can hang in my closet and grab over and over again.

It was great meeting and trying on Paul Carroll’s designs. He is a designer that loves his craft and understands how a woman wants to feel in clothing. He creates beautiful pieces that any woman can picture themselves in. He is dedicated to his work and he is so much fun to be around. Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it’s a time when many women throughout the country make strides to relay the message to the world that we must fight against breast cancer. There are wonderful organizations that help raise awareness and funds to aid research and fight this deadly disease. During the month of October we see many women wear pink or pink bows to remind us everyday that we must come together and help find a cure.

There are several organizations that help raise money for cancer research; The American Cancer Society (Making Strides Walk), the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, Susan G. Komen, and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Over the past weekend both Making Strides and Avon Breast Cancer Walk had events throughout New York City to raise money and awareness. Each year women, men, and children walk together. It is a touching moment, you see survivors walking, family members who have lost their loved ones and those currently affected with the disease. Breast Cancer is not a disease that only affects a woman but an entire family. October is an important month not just for survivors but their families as well. These organized events allow family members to fight with their loved ones to make a difference.

Each organization work year round to raise money for research and it’s important that we pay attention. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not only about raising money, but creating awareness to women that feel they don’t need to worry about this disease and support those that are suffering. An example of one organizations programs like the The American Cancer Society are the following: They offers screening test and help people understand what screening tests they need and the steps to take to protect themselves from breast cancer by developing prevention and early detection guidelines. They also provide transportation to and from treatment, free lodging, beauty techniques, emotional support, cancer education classes, online cancer survivor support network, plus trained cancer information specialist 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

So you see Breast Cancer Awareness Month is important for not only the women affected with the disease, but their families. Each organization provide support and funds for research. We need to come together and pay attention to this horrible disease and help fight and take care of those affected. Support one of these wonderful organizations that are making a difference for women everywhere. Together we can make a difference.

Coco Rocha

We are always searching for women that are strong, brilliant, and inspire us. Since September was all about fashion week we tried to think of someone that would be a good example of Women at Work in the fashion industry. And what better person to choose than Coco Rocha? She is a model, business woman and an advocate for women and future young models.

Coco Rocha began her career as a dancer and model in the early 2000′s. She has been covered in magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, and many more. She also worked with designers like Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, etc. Rocha kept herself busy working in numerous television shows like MTV Music Movie Awards, The Face and America’s Next Top Model.

She has written several articles and has won awards for her charity work. She wrote the foreword to Canadian fashion reporter Jeanne Beker’s book Struttin It!, about the modeling profession. As well as writing for Seventeen Magazine on the topic of girls’ body image and self esteem. But most importantly Rocha is one of the few models who has spoken out against the prevalence of eating disorders in the modeling industry. She created a blog in which she wrote an open letter to the New York Times about the aesthetics that reduces a women or child to an emaciated skeleton. She has even spoken up about the fashion industry and how they would advise her to loose more weight to look as though she was anorexic, since that was the new look for the year. Her awards vary from Model of the Year from Marie Claire’s Prix d’Excellence and Elle Style award. She also received an award from Seventeen Body Peace award by Seventeen Magazine.

She created The Model Alliance that protects models from being exploited by working longer hours, earning insurance coverage and so much more. Coco Rocha worked with Senhoa, an organization helping survivors of human trafficking by creating a capsule collection and giving all the proceeds to the program.

As you can see Coco Rocha is more than just a pretty face. She is a woman that stands up for what she believes in and strives to empower women everywhere. She fights for young girls that are exploited whether in fashion or in a war - torn country. Coco Rocha is someone to look up to and admire for her hard work and dedication. She is a great advocate for women and we want to applaud her strength and courage.

Fashion Week Street Style

Well Fashion Week is still going strong or should we call it Fashion Month. It started in New York and will end in Paris. The fashionistas come out and show their best outfits. It’s a see and be seen time, the cameras are flashing and everyone wants a piece of the action. And yes it’s so much fun to see the what the designers are creating for the following season, but what really makes Fashion week fun and interesting are the street styles.

Fashion Week Street Styles inspire the every day girl to try something new and scour the internet and stores to find the same outfit or least something similar. We took a look at some of the street styles from New York, London, Milan, and Paris and we have some interesting ensembles; from casual chic to tailored. We loved how each city had it’s “trademark” fashion looks.

New York had a casual chic vibe, London had a laid back style, Milan was very sleek, and Paris, well, Paris had a little bit of everything. Paris had cheeky, tailored, and sleek. Yes, Fashion Week Street Styles are a good way to check out the season’s look that anyone can pull off. We think it would be fun just as fun to have a Fashion Week Street Style show every year. What do you think?

Joan Rivers - A Legend

The entertainment world lost a legend a few weeks ago and we had to share our thoughts about a woman that accomplished so much and inspired so many. Joan Rivers was a comedian, an actor, style critic, entrepreneur and humanitarian. She started her career in the 50′s and until recently she was working non-stop.

Joan Rivers worked in a man’s world and was never considered “one of the guys”, yet when you look at what she was able to accomplish you have to be impressed. She worked in late night comedy clubs, she became a tv writer, was a regular at The Tonight Show and even covered for Johnny Carson. She also had her own talk show, granted it was cancelled but that did not stopped her. She continued to work and reinvent herself multiple times.

Joan Rivers continued her work into her 80′s, she worked on Fashion Police, had a fashion line on QVC, volunteered every year at God’s Love We Deliver and still toured the comedy club circuit. She inspires us to follow our dreams and to continue on despite a few bumps on the road. As women we have to take her example and follow our passion. Never give up!

We must honor Joan Rivers and what she has done. Some people may have found her comedy brash and in your face but that’s what made it so great. She just went for it and that’s why Joan Rivers will be remembered for setting her own rules and not taking it too seriously. She helped other women in the entertainment world create their own voices. Comedians today like Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Handler and many more have been able to create their own identity by following Rivers rules. - “My advice to women comedians is: First of all, don’t worry about the money. Love the process. You don’t know when it’s gonna happen,” “Also: Ignore your competition.”

Well, we will ignore the competition but we won’t ignore the fact that we lost a great entertainer and person. A woman that didn’t give up and created her own empire by doing what she loved. We will miss you Joan Rivers and we love the process of our own dreams.

New York Fashion Week

Well another week of fashion has passed us by. It is that time we all look forward to right after the summer ends, New York Fashion Week! A week filled with fashionistas from all over the world to see the beautiful creations from young to established designers. It’s the time of year when a new designer gets “discovered” or when our favorites take their designs to a whole new level. New York Fashion Week is all over town, from downtown to uptown you can see people flock to the shows . Of course the most popular shows that everyone want to attend is the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, but don’t fret. If you are not invited technology today has allowed the everyday girl to experience the show from the comforts of your home or office. You can log on to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week website and see the shows live. Granted it’s not the same like sitting next to Anna Wintour or your favorite celebrity, but at least you can wear your jammies and eat a pint of ice cream.

New York Fashion week is one of our favorite times in New York City. The people that visit the city to see the shows are as much fun to watch then the shows themselves. The city lights are intensified with the clicking of the cameras as photographer shoot the girl walking down the street with her best look. Women that don’t have an invitation to shows go to Lincoln Center in their best outfits to impress and see if they can get standing room only. They will do anything to get in. Yes, New York Fashion Week is all about who looks the best and we love it.

Some of the designers that we loved during New York Fashion Week were Monique Lhuillier, J. Mendel, Clover Canyon, Erin Fetherston, Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren, and Noon by Noor. The designs varied from beautifully elegant dresses to fun patterned pieces. The collections were colorful and were tailored elegantly. We did see a lot of unexpected pieces from other designers that may have not really screamed Spring/Summer but nonetheless New York Fashion Week is all about creativity and fashion. We love the energy it brings to the city and can appreciate the creative process for all the designers involved.

Next Stop London then Paris…
